It all begins with a sunrise.

Udaya is a Sanskrit word meaning 'rising sun'.

Udaya's first home was in the little town of Mbombela. Friends would come together with flasks of coffee, rusks, and their furry friends, and we would climb the little rocky koppie to watch the sunrise over the mountains, farms, and bushveld.

Mpumalanga means "place where the sun rises" and so Udaya fit perfectly in its first home.

Since Covid-19, our studio in the koppie moved to its virtual home in the cloud and expanded to include teachers and students from all over South Africa.

Meet your teachers

  • Hello, wonderful humans! I'm Cait, a dedicated and passionate yoga instructor with over 500 hours of certified training.

My journey with yoga began in my teens, initially as a means to manage anxiety and insomnia. What started as a therapeutic practice quickly blossomed into a profound love for the fluidity and mindfulness of yoga. At 19, I embarked on my first teacher training in Johannesburg, and although teaching yoga wasn't my initial plan, the mat kept calling me back.

In 2017, I founded Udaya Yoga (originally Meraki Yoga) in Somerset West, focusing on private sessions and classes tailored for seniors and children. The studio found its first official home when I moved to Nelspruit in 2018, blossoming into a welcoming space for all.

I'm versed in various styles, including Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, and Ashtanga yoga. My heart, however, is drawn to the creative flow of Vinyasa. My classes strike a balance between gentleness and challenge, catering to both the body and the mind.

Beyond my foundational training, I've delved deeper into the world of yoga, completing courses in Ayurveda, yoga therapy, meditation, and advanced teacher training. These experiences have not only enriched my teaching but also my personal journey.

Yoga has become more than just a practice for me; it's a cornerstone of my life, leading me to new passions and paths I never would have discovered otherwise.

I'm excited to share this transformative journey with you, blending ancient wisdom with a modern understanding of the mind and body.

  • Hello! I'm Robyn, the intuitive fairy, dedicated to guiding you in discovering your authentic flow while making movement joyful and healthful. With a Drama degree from Stellenbosch University and a YTT 200 certification from Udaya, I've evolved into a teacher passionate about nurturing students' intuitive curiosity and playfulness.

In my classes and movement workshop, I emphasise intuitive and somatic explorations, inviting students to shed societal expectations and embrace their authentic potential in mind, body, and breath. As part of this training, I'll be working alongside Cait, contributing morning flows, leading movement workshops to shift focus from the mind to the body, and facilitating Asana labs. Through these sessions, we'll delve into healthy asana alignments, explore variations, and uncover numerous benefits.

Let's explore, play, and unearth the magic of yoga in a way that's uniquely ours.
