bookclub: the artist way by Julia cameron

Join us for a transformative 12-week journey through Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way." This book club is more than just a reading group; it's a shared exploration of creativity and personal growth.

You don’t need to be a painter, a writer, or a musician. You don’t need to consider yourself a typical “artist” to find significant benefits from “The Artist’s Way”. This book is for anyone interested in exploring and enhancing their creativity (and creativity comes is many, many forms).

"The Artist's Way" is designed to unlock creative potential. The core philosophy of the book is that creativity is a natural and vital part of life that can be nurtured and developed.

The book is structured as a twelve-week course, each week focusing on a different theme or aspect of the creative process.

Key elements:

  1. Morning Pages: This is a daily practice of writing three pages of stream-of-consciousness thoughts, ideally done first thing in the morning. It's intended to clear the mind, identify fears and obstacles, and tap into one's intuition and creativity.

  2. Artist Dates: These are weekly solo expeditions to explore something fun or interesting. The idea is to spark inspiration and joy, feeding the creative mind.

  3. Recovering a Sense of Safety, Identity, and Power: The book addresses issues such as self-doubt, fear, and limiting beliefs that can hinder creative expression.

  4. Spiritual Connection to Creativity: Cameron emphasizes the connection between spirituality and creativity, encouraging readers to explore and develop this relationship.

Throughout our 12-week journey, we'll stay connected through our WhatsApp group. There is absolutely no pressure to share any of your creative endeavours, in fact, Julia really emphasises that this journey is a personal one.
